Andronica (Babu) Bica

Andronica Babu Bica, age 89 of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.  Born and raised in Constanta, Romania, Andronica came to the United States in 1992 and has lived in Bridgeport since. 

She was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church. Andronica had a deep love for life. She found joy in cooking and singing, and took great pride in caring for her home. To her family, their Mom had a beautiful voice and a passion for singing to them any time she had an opportunity.  There was something sacred in her singing, not just about the melody and the words - it was about her love woven into every note. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for her gentle kindness. 

She is survived by her four sons, Costel Bica and his wife Lilliana of Shelton, Marian Bica and his wife Elena of Monroe, Christian Bica and his wife Raluca of Bridgeport and Dumitru Zdralea and his wife Mirela of Trumbull. Grandchildren Andronica and John Bica, Alexandra Bica, Maria, Carmen and Christian Bica Jr. and George and Mihai Zdralea. Great grandchildren Cassandra and Nathaniel, and Sophia and Nicholas. A sister Vasilica Ianus and her husband Nicolae as well as her nephews and nieces Ion, Daniel, Atena, and Aida.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 12 pm at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Boston Ave., Bridgeport. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 pm in the Frank Polke and Son Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield and at Church from 11:30 am until the time of services.
