Angeles Otero, age 105, of Bridgeport, wife of the late Atanasio Otero, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19th in her home.
Born on January 27th, 1919 in Baire, Cuba; daughter of the late Francisco and Merenciana Barzaga Vasquez, Angeles came to the United States and had been a Bridgeport resident for most of her life.
She had worked as a seamstress for the Leathermode company until her retirement. Angeles enjoyed cooking and crocheting for her family, she was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and later the New York Mets. Angeles liked sitting on her deck feeding the birds and squirrels and more than anything loved the times she spent with her family. A loving mother, grandmother and aunt, she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her son, Heriberto (Herb) Ramirez and his wife Carolyn, daughters Rosbita (Rose) Maldonado and her husband Ben, Iris Vargas and her husband Jose, all of Bridgeport and Carmen McCoy of Plymouth, CT. also her special niece Ana Maria Marcos as well as 20 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Eugene Otero, son in law David McCoy, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am directly at St. Margaret's Shrine, Park Ave., Bridgeport with burial to follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. There will be no prior calling hours.
