Daniel W. Sheping

Born in 1949 in Bridgeport, CT to Daniel and Madelyn Sheping, Dan passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. He was the husband of Roseann (Bereski) Sheping for 46 years and loving father of Ashley Sheping.

Dan grew up on the lake in Fairfield, CT along with his sister Sandra Eriksson. He remained a lifelong resident of Fairfield after graduating from Andrew Warde High School (’67).

He worked with Standard Oil for 30 years but his true passion was working on his home and yard on Martha’s Vineyard where he created the best memories with his wife & daughter.  Dan was an accomplished craftsman who was always reading and learning from others on how to perfect a new skill. There was no task too big or small that he wouldn’t tackle; from carpentry, full landscape overhaul to architectural & interior design, Dan was talented in all. Despite always being on the go with little interest in relaxing, he was an avid reader of non-fiction and the Sunday New York Times. He loved to play tennis, take his daily 4-mile walks and enjoyed sailing and boating anytime he got the chance. Being on the beach, by the water, is what made him happiest. Once the Fall hit, he could be found supporting the New England Patriots at home with his family or at his favorite happy hour spots.

In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his sister Sandra Eriksson as well as his uncle Norm Shepard; his in-laws, Ken & Debbie Bereski, Greg & Pat Bereski, and Vicki Bereski; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and his godchildren. Dan is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Joe Bereski and his loyal canine companion, Sparky “Goobie” Sheping.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) - or to Dan’s parish: Holy Cross Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4th at 11 am directly at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd from 4-7 pm in the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield.
