Florence Godin

Florence Sota Godin, age 90, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Ernest Godin Sr., passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Born in Bridgeport on March 16, 1933, daughter of the late Pandely and Doxia Coca Sota, Florence had been a Stratford Town resident for many years. She had worked for the D.M Read Company for over thirty years until her retirement. Her passion for her entire life was Saint Dimitrie Orthodox Church, her second home. Florence sang in the church choir, she belonged to the St. Dimitrie Ladies Guild, the St. Dimitrie Seniors and was a willing volunteer for many Church Festivals. Florence was an avid New York Yankees fan, going back to the 1940's.

She loved her family and will be truly missed by her two loving sons, Frank and Ernest both of Stratford, two cousins Mary and Father George. In addition to her husband Ernie, Florence was predeceased by her brothers Alex and James Sota.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm directly at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton, with her cousin, Rev. Fr. George M. Coca officiating. Her burial will be held on Monday at 11 am at Lakeview Cemetery, Boston Ave., Bridgeport. Friends may call on Sunday at Church from 12:30 pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dimitrie Church. The Godin family would like to thank the staff of Bridgeport Hospital for the compassionate care that Florence received during her stay there.
