Isaiah Butler Obituary

Isaiah Messiah “Izzy” Walden Butler, a radiant soul whose life was marked by courage, laughter, music, and love, entered eternal rest on June 26, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends and was covered in prayer.

Born on October 19, 1998, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT, Isaiah was a bright light from the beginning. Though born in Bridgeport, he was truly a Connecticut child, growing up in Stamford and Norwalk, cities that shaped his joy, strength, and deep sense of community.

Isaiah attended Hart Magnet Elementary School, Rogers Middle School, and graduated from AITE High School in 2017. He later pursued his passions at New England College. A natural performer and compassionate soul, Isaiah had a love for music, dancing, wrestling, basketball, martial arts, and Japanese culture. He was a young man of many gifts, each of which he used to bring joy to others.

In 2009, at just 10 years old, Isaiah suffered a sudden heart attack due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Found by a school custodian, Gerard Sangermano, this moment would alter the course of his life and save countless others. In response, Stamford Public Schools installed AED machines in all schools and youth programs. From this tragedy came purpose.

But Isaiah didn’t let his diagnosis define him. He lived boldly. He danced with passion, laughed with abandon, and offered wisdom far beyond his years, encouraging others. He performed in Seussical the Musical with the Strawberry Hill Players, was honored at the Childcare Learning Center’s Annual Gala, and even appeared on America’s Got Talent. He fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling many places, but the most significant was to Japan, embodying the spirit of an overcomer who defied every odd and lived with purpose.

Isaiah was a young man after God’s own heart. He embodied the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, kindness, and poured it into everyone he met. He was the friend people could confide in, the brother who brought laughter, the son who made his mother proud, and always wanted her to be happy. He loved his family deeply and cherished reunions, camp adventures, and quiet moments alike.

Isaiah’s light lives on in his music, in the hearts of those he loved, and in the countless people who were changed by his story. His legacy of resilience, joy, and faith is woven into the very fabric of our lives.
