Julia (Julie) Pittu Cipu, age 95, of Bridgeport/Trumbull, loving and devoted wife of the late George Cipu, passed peacefully on Saturday October 12, 2024.
Born and raised in Bridgeport on February 24, 1929, daughter of late Spiro and Domnica Pittu.
George and Julie were married in 1952 for 61 years prior to George’s passing in 2013. Everyone knew and loved Julie and George. Julie was a fabulous cook, baker, and expert pita maker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and recent great-grandmother.
Julie grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Bassick High School. She loved treating her friends to ice cream sundaes after school at Pittu’s family restaurant.
Julie worked at Casco, and after she had her children, Reads Department Store. She was most proud of her 26 years at the University of Bridgeport admissions office.
Julie was a member of the St. Dimitrie Choir, Ladies Auxiliary, and Seniors. She loved playing cards with family and friends and spending time at Seaside Park. Julie had a marvelous sense of humor, never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and was always the “first one in the pool”.
Julie leaves behind her children, Thomas and Rodica Cipu of Maryland, Christine and Joseph Magistro of Branford, and Joanne and Michael Seamon of North Carolina; grandchildren Michael and Melinda Cipu, Lisa and Donald Russo, Maria Magistro, Talia and Marshal Sawyer, and Carly and Berke Ozdemir; great-granddaughter Olivia Russo as well as many nieces and nephews.
