Kenneth Andrew Janello, 90, a longtime resident of Greater Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 22, 2024.
Born in Bridgeport on August 25, 1933, Ken was the son of Macedo-Romanian immigrants Constantine ("Gus") and Alexandria ("Alice") Janello of Bridgeport. He graduated from Bassick High School in 1949 and attended Tufts University where he played on the varsity baseball, basketball and soccer teams. He graduated from Duke University School of Law and practiced law from his office on Congress Street in Bridgeport for more than 40 years. Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, coached the basketball team at St. Dimitrie Church, and was an avid reader and golfer.
He is survived by his children David Janello (Grace) of Chicago, Mark Janello of Baltimore, Amy Sturge (Ben) of Albuquerque and Beth Sanchez (Al) of Bernalillo, by his brother Theodore Janello (Mary Ellen), by his grandchildren Miranda Janello, Aria Janello, Liam Sturge, Juliet Sturge, Constantine Janello and Stephanie Montoya, and his aunts Cornelia Talabac and Elizabeth Kressu, as well as his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Constantine and Alice Janello and his brother Donald Janello.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 5th at 11:00 am at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Road, Easton, Connecticut, with Reverend Father George Coca officiating. Family and friends may call on Tuesday at Church from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery on Boston Ave. in Bridgeport.
