Mario DiVincenzo

Mario DiVincenzo, age 78, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Raddusa, Sicily, the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Lo Monaco) DiVincenzo, Mario immigrated to the United States in 1962, settling in Bridgeport, where he would build his life and legacy.

A true Sicilian in every sense, Mario took great joy in life’s simple pleasures — tending his garden, caring for his home, and making homemade wine. He embodied quiet strength, teaching through example more than words. A proud craftsman, he spent nearly sixty years cutting hair in Westport and Fairfield, earning the respect and friendship of generations of clients.

He is survived by his sons, Joey DiVincenzo and his partner Karla Shook of Monroe, and Marco DiVincenzo of Bridgeport; his daughter Maria Rua of Oxford; grandchildren Haley, Miley, and Giana Rua; brothers Angelo DiVincenzo of Shelton, and Carlo DiVincenzo of Bridgeport; his devoted companion Augusta DeJesus of Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog and “best friend”, Coco.

He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Nick DiVincenzo.

Funeral services will be held privately under the care of Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
