Peter Edward Chalker

Peter Edward Chalker, age 85, of Harwinton, Connecticut, husband of the late Elizabeth Devine Chalker, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025.

Peter was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 1, 1939, son of the late Peter B. Chalker and Olga Somogie Chalker. Upon graduating from Fairfield High School, Peter joined the United Stated Marine Corps and served honorably. Peter was proud of his service and was forever a Marine. Peter was introduced to his wife of 62 years, the late Elizabeth Devine Chalker, by his father.  Peter went on to drive a tractor trailer for Valleries Transportation Service of Norwalk for over 30 years. After working for many decades, Peter happily retired to the family farm, where he was forever cutting firewood, mowing the lawn, and enjoying his days outdoors. Peter’s dog Suzie-Q will surely miss his attention and snacks.

Peter is survived by his sister, Joyce Gentile and her husband John of West Haven, CT. He is predeceased by his brother, Burton Chalker. Peter is survived by his children, Sean Chalker and his wife Margot of Bethlehem, CT, Kerry Higgins and her husband Kevin of Midlothian, VA, Kelly Ward and her husband Bob of Warren, CT, Daniel Chalker and his fiancé Lilibeth Rodriguez of Waterbury, CT, Brian Chalker and his wife Carly of Torrington, CT, Patrick Chalker and his wife Paula, of Chester, MA, Eilish Stewart and her husband Jamie of Phoenix, AZ, Bridget Chalker of Newburyport, MA, and is predeceased by his loving daughter Patricia Chalker. Peter will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren, Luis, Carlos, Jackson, Taylor, Ryan, Jeff, Caitlin, Madilyn, Daniella, Amanda, Mellisa, Patrick, Madeline, Isla, Lusia, and Cillian, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Peter Chalker’s children would like thank Peter’s nephew, Raymond Stehl, for the friendship and assistance he offered their father and family over the years.

At Peter Chalker's request the family will be celebrating his life privately. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Meals on Wheels, 88 East Albert Street, Torrington, CT 06790 in honor of Peter Chalker.
