Robert Maraczi Obituary

Robert Edward Maraczi, age 81, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Carol Piwowarski Maraczi, passed away on Sunday, August 4th, 2024.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Bela and Mary Ducsay Maraczi, Bob had been resident of Shelton for many years as well as Stratford and Milford. He graduated from Andrew Ward High School in 1960 followed by graduating from Siena College in 1969. Keeping his strong family roots he started working at the family business, Maraczi’s Drive-in on Boston Ave. Bridgeport, in 1950 for the grand opening. Mr. Maraczi had also worked for Peoples Bank until he and his wife Carol opened the Stratford Athletic Club that they opened and operated for 28 years until their retirement.

Bob was a member of the International Order of the Alhambra, El Poder Caravan and an Honorary member of the Father Coleman Council, Knights of Columbus. Bob enjoyed wordsmithing and creative writing, he was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan, loved watching his game shows, and he and Carol enjoyed world travel together and the times that they spent in their vacation home in St. Maarten. More than anything, Bob loved being a beloved Papa to Lauren and Logan.

Survivors include his daughters, Suzanne Maraczi of Milford, Carla Baudo and Victoria Maraczi, both of Shelton and his cherished grandchildren Lauren and Logan Baudo. He leaves behind his nieces, Geri Amoroso and her husband Jeff and Mary Maraczi, as well as grand neices, nephews and extended family members. Last but not least, he leaves behind his Granddogs Dexter, Marcus, Margaret and longtime companion, his African Gray Chester. He was predeceased by his brother William ( Bill ) Maraczi and nephew Kenny Maraczi.

The family would like to thank Dr. Neal Fischbach, Dr. Leon Rapko, Renee Moye APRN, and all the caring staff that has helped during this difficult time.
