Stere Nicolae

Stere Nicolae, age 81, of Bridgeport, husband of Maria Dimcica Nicolae passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Born March 7, 1944 in Cobadin, Romania, Mr. Nicolae came to the United States in 1986 and had been a Bridgeport resident for over 25 years.

He worked as a printers’ set-up man for Schick Razors and later for the Hubbell Corporation until his retirement. Stere enjoyed watching soccer matches, gardening and especially enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife Maria, children Silvia and her husband George Gherlan of Lake Worth, Florida, sons, Iancu Nicolae and his wife Cristina of Fairfield and Cosmin Niculae and George Nicolae, both of Hollywood, Florida. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Victoria Williams and Emma Gherlan and Claire, Julian and Theodore Nicolae, great-grandchildren Scarlett and Alexander Williams, brothers and sisters Coli & Vica Ianus, Chirata & Iancu Ciolacu, Zoia Zgura, Costa & Rodica Ianus as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church, 183 Howe Ave., Shelton with Visitation 10 am until funeral service at 11 am. Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Boston Ave., Bridgeport. Arrangements in the care of the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home.
