Steven J. Smey

Steve J. Smey, Jr. 77, of Bridgeport CT entered into the Gates of Heaven as he passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Linda M. Smey.

Born to the late Steve Smey Sr. and Louise Horvath Smey. Steve grew up in Fairfield and later graduated from Rodger Ludlowe High School in 1966. He earned his degree from The University of New Haven as well as serving in the US Army. He enjoyed gardening, talking Politics and spending time with family. He will be remembered for his compassion, kindness and caring from other people.

Predeceased by his brother John L. Smey. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his sister, Janette Smey Palmquist of Seymour, Brother-in-law Albie Deak and his wife Kathleen of Shelton as well as eight nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 am directly at St. Ann Church, 481 Brewster St. Bridgeport with burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-5 pm in the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield.
